Thoughts....
decided it may be a good idea to post some thoughts on the calves we have on the ground this year, and the bulls they are by. Really like the Overdrive's and Pleasure's, but the standout bull again is Classic, they are just something else. Interestingly they aren't as frail as you would be lead to think by the bull's type score, usually when I see high type scores and they go into my cows, I end up with frail cows that would blow over in a good gust of wind, but not the Classic's

Payton Graduates
Good news on the "take a risk" front, HSS TEF Payton has just graduated to active service at CRV AmBreed, with pretty good figures. Our yearlings by him look lovely, and we will be using him again next year... we already have a LOT of bulls for this season, or we would be using him now!

An Update...
For those of you interested in the Pleasure calves born this calving season, I can tell you they are very nice calves, plenty of width and strength, easy calving (didn't pull one) and we have changed our semen order to include him again this mating. Would recommend you take another look at the bull if you were thinking about him, I like them a lot

A new Red one!
We picked up Westell K Potter-Red at the Waipa Combined Breeders sale today, she is a Kian out of a Canvas, and looks the part! We hope she does as well as the Olympic we bought with the Westell prefix last year, I see a pattern forming here......!

A fantastic day today at Kiteroa Ayrshires 40th Annual Sale, congratulations to Wally, Zane and families on a great day.
We were extremely happy to come home with the pick of 3 ET sisters by Bonapart from Bo Pyjamas, our choice was Kiteroa Bo Petal ET, a very smart heifer with an incredible pedigree, we look forward to milking her next year, and breeding many generations of great cows from her!

Classifying - the Update!
Recently we classified all our 2 year old heifers, and a dozen cows that I like on a daily basis, to see how they rate for type. An awesome and unexpected result, with 3 Ex cows, 9 VG, and everything else above 80 points! very happy with the result, and will probably classify again next year!!

And, because we are nice folks....
This year we will be partnering with our good friend Shaun Killalea to breed something for him for the showring. Shaun has supplied some sexed Zenith semen, and we will endeavour to put them in cows which will produce him something special!
Best of luck mate!

Aalshorst Pleasure
This week has seen the inclusion of the new Dutch Red & White sire Pleasure to the ranks of bulls in our tank for this season's mating. The Talent son from a Merton dam looks to be a very good bull, and pictures of daughters we have seen look good. An exciting time in our Red breeding program

Classic - oooh yeah!!!
With our first Classic heifer in the calf barn, we cancelled the Delta Ireland we had on order today, and replaced it with 50 more straws of Classic - the calf is an amazing looking animal, plenty of power, heaps of rib, and an appetite from something twice its size! Hoping for more heifers from the straws in the cows now too - its nice when the calves live up to the hype!!
