2010 sees us registered with Ayrshire NZ as Stormview Ayrshires, as we branch out our breeding goals once again, and endeavour to do something different!
I had Ayrshires when I first started breeding cattle, many moons ago, and have always liked them, but I found the diversity of the holstein-Friesian genepool a greater attraction in my early years, and so eventually my Ayrshire collecting stopped.
In september 2009, we purchased an ayrshire cow and her calf from Trademe, just to add to our number of milking cows, didn't know anything about her, other than she had four legs and a tail ! upon getting her and her daughter home, we did some checking, and ordered a 3 generation pedigree for her, and discovered we had done quite well!
We had "accidentally" purchased Kiteroa Cream Anna ET,VHC the daughter of K.Cream Ablige, one of the better ayrshires in the country, in my opinion! Sired by a son of K.Grizelda, there is some serious cow power behind Anna, and we feel we can breed her on and create something good! The calf we purchased her with, is her Legace Ristourn daughter, and will be the first Stormview Ayrshire, just need to think up a name now!
Anna has been mated to Quartz this season, and we eagerly await the results of that mating next spring!
Following the theory that you should buy the best you can get as a foundation stone of any cow family, we recently purchased Kiteroa Bo Petal ET at the Kiteroa 40th Annual Sale. Wally and Zane Kite are known throughout NZ as the owners of a breed leading nursery for the Ayrshire breed, and to be able to purchase an animal the quality of Petal from them is indeed an honour. Very few Bonapart daughters will be available to the market from now on, and to have one from an Ex3 cow like Bo Pyjamas is an awesome opportunity.

Kiteroa Bo Petal ET - the foundation of something great we hope!
